Trackside's Recap Of The 2024 British Grand Prix
The 2024 F1 Season Has It’s Sixth Different Winner In Historic British Grand Prix!
In Return To Form;
Hamilton Wins Historic Ninth British Grand Prix
Silverstone | July 5th-7th, 2024
In an unpredictable race that will be remembered as much for the strategic decisions made, as the action on the track, Lewis Hamilton crossed the line in P1 for his record-breaking ninth British Grand Prix victory. Max Verstappen survived a mediocre first-stint to take P2 after a keen strategy call put him on the hard tire, allowing him to chase down Lando Norris. A visibly disappointed Norris settled for P3, after a costly strategy misstep put him on softs, instead of the better performing mediums that both McLaren drivers had available.
🏆 Lewis Hamilton’s 🏆
Record-Breaking Victory
This season has not lacked for great stories, and it’s latest emotional moment saw Hamilton celebrate a truly record-breaking victory in front of his home fans. Reveling in what will most surely be his last British Grand Prix victory behind the wheel of a Mercedes, Hamilton broke and extended a multitude of records including:
First Driver To Win Past Their 300th Grand Prix Start (344 Races)
The Oldest Race Winner In The 21st Century (39 years 82 days)
Most Wins At A Single Track (9)
Most Seasons With A Race Win (16)
Longest Time Between First & Most Recent Victory (17 years, 1 Month)
A Rapidly Converging Field
Despite an entertaining crescendo to what has proven to be a highly competitive triple-header, there are as many questions as answers heading into the off-week with the3 front-runners suffering strategic, mechanical, and performance woes throughout the weekend.

British Grand Prix’s Driver Market Implications
It’s been a truly unprecedented silly season as we continue to see the ramifications of Lewis Hamilton’s shock move to Ferrari. With the likes of Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo precariously hanging on to their seats, it’s easier to answer who is not rumored to make a move at this point.
“We’re super stoked by Nico Hulkenberg delivering the fastest first sector across all of qualifying...In👏🏻 A 👏🏻 Haas👏🏻.”

Grand Prix Results
After a rain-impacted thriller that saw Lewis Hamilton return to the top of the podium for a record-breaking 9th time at Silverstone, the drivers and constructors standings are relatively unchanged, with both Mercedes and Red Bull failing to maximize points with weak finishes from Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez, and Mercedes suffering a DNF when George Russell had to retire his car due to a water system issue.
📈 Where We Stand
In the Driver’s Championship, Max Verstappen continues to sit on top, with Lando Norris quietly cutting into Max’s leads with each podium finish.
In the Constructor’s Championship, Red Bull continues to lead, McLaren is rapidly gaining on Ferrari, being the only front-runner to score points with both cars.
Triple Header
Hangover
After being spoiled with a Euro triple-header, it’s time for drivers and fans alike to take a quick breather before heading into a double-header. 😮💨 Except for you, Carlos! You have a decision that we (and many of your peers) would love you to get on with, you’re holding things up!
The Hungarian Grand Prix is up next on the calendar, with a chance to see the 7th unique GP winner this season (the record currently stands at 11 different drivers). Will Mercedes new upgrades mean we see a third Mercedes podium in a row? Will Red Bull regain their advantage, and will that benefit Perez? Will Martin Brundle create another cringe grid walk moment?
We leave you to react to the first glimpse we get of the ’F1’ movie that has occasionally invaded grand prix weekends, producing bizarre situations like this clip of Brad Pitt casually joining the post-race media scrum while Norris is going through it. 🫨
Until Next Week,
